THE visiting Cardinia Bgrade team easily accounted for Cranbourne Meadows by 64 runs on Saturday.
Justin Vanderzalm top scored with 60, while useful contributions of 34 from Scott Graham and 28 from John Nooy helped the Bulls post the excellent total of 8/224.
Rebel leader Shane White (3/42 from eight overs) was the main weapon in the home side’s attack.
Cranbourne Meadows only managed to total 160 in reply.
Andy Clappers top scored with 35, while White and Shaun Sinclair contributed 20s.
The promising Brodie Glen (3/31 from eight overs) was the Bulls’ most successful bowler.
Tooradin overwhelmed Emerald by 89 runs.
James Litterbach scored a robust 79 notout when the Bombers reached the reasonable score of 8/189, but excellent batting from Adam Galea enabled the Seagulls to wing their way to victory.
Three sixes and ten fours were included in Galea’s score of 77, while Jarrad Thompson and Ben Mantel contributed 36 and 35 respectively.
Upper Beaconsfield produced pleasing form at home when it overcame PUT by 79 runs.
Ben Keane scored 61 and Stuart Davis 36 when the Yabbies scored a struggling 133.
Luke Pitcher (3/16), Aaron Gray (3/20) and Marcus Gehling (2/32) shone out in the impressive Maroons’ bowling attack.
The host side then scored a resounding 4/212, with Richard Goodenough (58), David Taylor (43) and Julian Bayard (37) all displaying good batting form.
Pakenham was no match for Beaconsfield that won the match by 84 runs.
The Lions only managed to total 82 in their own den with Dennis Porter top scoring with 25, while Rhyss Miller (3/25) and Travis Turnbull (2/30) both performed well in the Tiger attack.
Beaconsfield then responded in impressive fashion by scoring 7/166. Turnbull displayed his allround capabilities by top scoring with 32.
Nyora continued its preChristmas form by winning well against Merinda Park.
The host skipper Mark Pearse top scored with 64 and Andrew Collis reached 43 when Nyora smashed 9/260, while the Cobras’ consistent junior batsman Jarrad Armitage top scored with 27 for the losing side.
@BT Sub Sport Gaz:C GRADE
Two homeground centuries were recorded when Catani overwhelmed the Lyndhurst Vikings by 85 runs.
Sixteen boundaries were included in Tim Millers’ score of 102, while Blues’ teammate Chris Duncan reached 101.
Paul Gray was the main weapon in the Vikings’ attack with his impressive figures of 3/26 from eight overs.
Catani youngsters Luke Fialla (5/37) and Troy Schepsi (4/42) then bowled excellent eightover spells when the Vikings scored 198 in reply. Marty Davies and Ash Peters both scored 40s, while Kelly Shiels reached 34.
Kooweerup thrashed Nar Nar GoonMaryknoll by 149 runs, thanks to an excellent innings of 119 from Duncan Caig. Rick Light was also switched on and contributed 40, while the Goon’s Scott Musgrove captured 4/59 from eight overs.
The visitors crumbled for 116, with the Demon duo of Hobson and Murphy both capturing three wickets.
Upper Beaconsfield’s Dave Ardley continued his fine batting form, scoring 83 when the Maroons eclipsed Gembrook by 30 runs.
Ardley’s teammate Chris Curran scored 57 and the Brookers’ Tim Gray reached 53 when the host side totalled 187. A. Haythorpe (4/38 from eight overs) was Upper Beaconsfield’s leading bowler.
Officer enjoyed a resounding 129run win over Pakenham.
Peter Tucker (54), Liam Main (48) and Simon Armstrong (45 not out) all batted impressively when the Bullants swarmed to 6/233 and the Lions could only stagger to 104 in reply.
Terry Smith managed to score 28, but the remaining members of the pride failed to impact convincingly against the threepronged bowling attack of Peter Quinn, Paul Simon and James Quinn, who shared the wicket spoils.
Lang Lang comfortably accounted for Clyde by 52 runs and there were some pleasing performances for the Swamp Tigers.
R. Douglas top scored with 67, while Chris McCurdy (4/27) and Alan Jenkins (3/42) both bowled impressively. Veteran WGCA legend Peter O’Hare played a lone hand for the Cougars, capturing 2/41 and top scoring with 67.
Beaconsfield careered to a 91run victory over Devon Meadows after attacking batting displays from Mick McMahon and Ross Mitchell saw the Tigers race to 9/255 from 40 overs. McMahon reached 91 and Mitchell 49, despite accurate bowling from the Panthers’ Mick Floyd who snared 2/31 from his eight overs.
B. Evert (3/35) and Jamie Ingham (2/30) later bowled tidy eightover spells for the Tigers, while Luke Marrow (44 not out) and Matt Davidson (39) both batted well for the host team.
@BT Sub Sport Gaz:D GRADE
In a highscoring encounter between KilcundaBass and Nyora, it was the combine team that secured an exciting fiverun victory.
The victorious Sharks were in trouble when they still required 100 runs from their final ten overs, but an inspiring, undefeated innings of 81 from Ross Smith enabled the hosts to seize victory in the 38th over.
Valuable 40s from Mitch Golby and Shaun Richards provided strong support for Smith, while Peter Jensen and Bill Hayes both bowled well for Nyora after Billy Hessels, L. Jose and D. Morrison all scored halfcenturies when the visiting side totalled an imposing 8/222.
Merinda Park’s Shaun Hughes scored his maiden century in a resolute 40over innings against Nar Nar GoonMaryknoll.
Hughes scored a memorable 112 notout, while John Cuthbertson (45) and Mark Elliot (30) provided strong support when the Cobras slithered to the matchwinning total of 4/240.
Chase Saunders and Col Hodson scored 41 and 30 respectively when the Goon totalled 8/172.
Beaconsfield prevailed by just six runs after it scored 7/140 against Emerald.
Tiger captain Rob Young’s score of 49 played a crucial role in the home side’s narrow victory, but Bomber allrounder Lee Liegermoet was the star of the day, top scoring for Emerald with 31 and later capturing 3/39 from eight overs.
Cardinia enjoyed a fourwicket victory over Cranbourne Meadows, despite a fine innings of 61 from the Rebels’ B. Smith.
Bulls’ veteran Darren Aurisch produced a matchwinning allround performance, securing 2/23 and later top scoring for Cardinia with 34.
Tooradin still had seven overs in hand when it accounted for Clyde by five wickets.
Rob Bertram scored 43 notout and Steve Houlihan 39 when the Cougars reached 9/136 and it was John Dutton who enabled the Seagulls to swoop on victory.
Dutton returned the excellent figures of 4/24 from eight overs. Mitch Adderley and Ben Divirgilo then scored 45 and 33 respectively when the Seagulls soared to 5/140.
@BT Sub Sport Gaz:E GRADE
Jeff Bailey and Gary Quinlan continued to be the new batting stars of the grade when they blasted Cardinia to a 137run victory against Beaconsfield.
Bailey scored a magnificent 165 notout and Quinlan an eyecatching 94 when the pair shared a mammoth opening stand of 277.
Earlier in the day two veterans shone when Beaconsfield’s Alan Sauvarin top scored with 37 and Cardinia’s Wayne Snooks captured 3/27 from his eight overs.
Excellent bowling from Tooradin’s Ross Simpson enabled the Seagulls to swoop to a 38run win at Lang Lang.
Simpson captured superb figures of 4/8 from eight overs and he completed a memorable match by top scoring with 39 in the final session of play.
Lang Lang’s best performer was Sean Lambie who scored 38.
Chris Bright scored 75 and Glen Burns 40 when Kooweerup defeated the Lyndhurst Vikings by 88 runs.
The Demon duo also bowled well with Bright claiming 3/17 and Burns 1/26 from their eightover stints, while Steve Godfrey top scored with 37 for the vanquished Vikings.
Emerald rued the vital catches it missed after losing to Devon Meadows by the narrow margin of ten runs.
Panther cub James Howard shone for the visiting team, collecting 2/26 from eight overs and then scoring an excellent 88.
Gembrook triumphed in another close game, winning by nine runs against PUT.
D. Johnstone scored 54 and D. Fry 43 when the Brookers reached 8/184, while the Yabbies’ opening attack of T. Carey (2/15) and S. Wallace (2/30) both bowled accurate eightover spells.
Despite strong batting performances from B. Cough (58 runs), David Ryan (38 runs) and P. Reid (31 runs), Gembrook prevailed, due to an outstanding bowling performance from D. Hope who captured 6/37 from eight overs.
Merinda Park crushed Officer by 98 runs after Michael Mummron (53), Andy Martin (50 not out), Dion Ozszewiski (35 not out) and Paul Humphreys (35) all scored runs freely.
Robert Strang (3/18 from seven overs), was the Cobras’ main strike bowler, while Wayne Danks top scored for Officer with 52.
F grade fixtures will recommence next week.
@BT Sub Sport Gaz:JUNIOR GRADES
The best bowling performances in under13 ranks were Nyora’s J. Ellams (2/5) and J. Opteynde (2/2 from three overs).
Many under13 batsmen retired after scoring 15 to 20 runs and the highest scores were achieved by two players representing Nar Nar Goon Whites, with Joseph Sweeney scoring 32 and Lachie Gridley 25.
Two exceptional allround performances were highlighted in under15 results.
PUT player Ryan Louch scored 13 notout and captured 4/8 from three overs against KilcundaBass, while Aidan Nooy from Cardinia top scored with 28 and also snared 4/7 from two overs against Clyde.
Many batsmen retired after reaching double figures and the leading runmakers were D. Spencer and Jarrad Armitage from Merinda Park who scored 44 notout and 38 notout respectively and James Parnell from PUT Yabbies who notched up an undefeated 31.
Emerald Black bowler, J. RalphOakley, took the bowling honours for this grade level with the memorable figures of 3/1 from two overs.
Lang Lang won its under17 match against Officer by forfeit.
Again many batsmen retired after scoring between 20 to 30 runs and the top under17 scorers were Emerald’s M. Livermore, who scored 51 not out, while Merinda Park’s A. Martin and Cameron Davidson from KilcundaBass scored 42 and 35 respectively.
The dominant under17 allrounder was Brent Hughes from Nar Nar Goon who scored 26 notout and returned the fine bowling figures of 2/2.
