Berwick walkers get green light

PEDESTRIAN signals will be installed on High Street, Berwick, near Melville Park Drive.
This is part of significant expenditure on road infrastructure throughout the City of Casey.
Work on Lyall Road, from High Street to Harkaway Road and including provision for two throughtraffic lanes in both directions and protected turning lanes, will be finished by June.
Work has begun on the final stage of Gwendoline Drive, Berwick South.
This road will provide a link between Golf Links Road and Centre Road giving access to the new Berwick Fields Primary School, the Gwendoline Children’s Centre, the new Gwendoline Drive Oval and Sweeney Reserve. The road is expected to be open to traffic in March this year.
Casey mayor Colin Butler said the council recognised the importance of continually improving its road network to ensure roads were safe and to enhance the flow of traffic in and around the municipality.
He said almost half the council’s $42 million 200607 capital works program was committed to the construction of local roads.
