Relay for Life is off and running

THE Casey Cardinia Relay For Life will hold an information seminar at Akoonah Park, Berwick at 7.30pm on Wednesday 31 January.
The evening will explain how people can still get teams set up and registered for the relay at Akoonah Park on Friday 2 and Saturday 3 March.
Casey Cardinia Relay For Life cochair Deborah Ditchburn said it was not too late to get a team registered and to raise funds for the 2007 event.
“If you’d like to do your bit to help in the fight against cancer, to remember and honour loved ones affected by cancer, or just to join in a community event that’s great fun for everyone, come along to our information night and find out how you can be involved.”
Teams of 10 or more people will take turns to walk or run around the track to keep a baton moving for 24 hours from Friday evening.
Cancer survivors and carers join to form a common goal, and create an atmosphere that is touching and celebratory.
This sets the stage for an inspiring and memorable occasion on Friday evening.
Deborah said entertainment would be available for all ages and would include live music and food stalls.
“Funds raised at Casey Cardinia Relay For Life will finance lifesaving cancer research, programs to educate Victorians on cancer prevention and early detection, and support services for those affected by cancer both in Casey and across Victoria.
“Sixty Victorians are diagnosed with cancer every day.
“Relay For Life provides an opportunity for the people of Casey to make a collective difference in the fight against cancer,” Ms Ditchburn said.
