BERWICK Bowling Club touched base with its Scottish side last Thursday at the club’s annual bowling day dedicated to famed poet Robbie Burns.
The competing bowlers were piped onto the green before all attention was firmly focused on finding the jack.
Skip Kath Beevors and her team of Judy Fisher, Rod Beevors and Dave Reddy were the winners of the day with 45 points.
Firstgame winner with 20 shots up was a Berwick team, led by Marg Woodfall.
The last game winner came from Mornington Civic Bowling Club.
A traditional afternoon tea of Queen Mary’s Tarts and Dundee Fruitcake kept the Scottish spirit alive and well.
Robbie Burns (25.1.1779 – 21.7.1796) was a poet and lyricist widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland.
Berwick’s next Ladies Day is a mixed fours twilight tournament, starting at 5pm on 16 February.
