Burr’s five wickets not enough for Cobras

WITH their Agrade game reduced to 69 overs per side, Merinda Park didn’t have the best of conditions with the ground a lot quicker than the previous week.
The Cobras needed a good bowling and fielding performance, but unfortunately Kooweerup amassed 9/420.
Anthony Burr bowled well to claim his first fivewicket haul at the senior level.
His figures didn’t do him justice, with 5/110 from 12 overs.
New player Clayton Riddle also did well to claim 2/50 from 12 overs to follow his 90 not out with the bat.
Jarrod Armitage and Jess Mathers were the other wicket takers for Merinda Park with one each.

B GRADE

After Upper Beaconsfield declaring prior to the start of play, the Cobras fought back well after the poor performance with the bat last week.
Making 9/184 by stumps, there were some good performances with the bat including 61 from wicketkeeper Andrew Syddall, Heath Gibson (27), Nick Reed (23), Shaun Hughes (18) and Jason Edwards with (17).
Captain for the game Tony Clarke was also impressed with the batting of Gareth Duff to hold off the Upper Beaconsfield bowlers.

D GRADE

Playing a oneday game against Emerald, Merinda Park had its second loss for the season.

Emerald unfortunately went on to score 6/153 from their 40 overs with captain John Proctor the best of the wicket takers with 2/23 from eight overs.
Opening bowler Pat Graham was very economical with 0/12 from eight overs.
Other bowlers to pick up wickets were Darren Smith, Andrew Martin and Grant Pearson.

Chasing 279 against Lyndhurst, the Cobras fell short by 69 runs at stumps.
The team scored 9/210, Michael McCalman the pick of the bats with 52.

The Cobras scored 5/156 with Devon Meadows making 4/191.
