Cottier collects his first medal

AN excellent nett 67 was enough to give Drouin Golf Club’s Craig Cottier his first monthly medal on Saturday.
He won on a countback from Steve Cordell, who won the Agrade competition.
There was a field of 117 for the event, played in good weather conditions.
Runnerup in Agrade was Fred Barton with 68 on a countback from Phil Dignan.
Geoff Anderson, Brad Bennett and Frank Clebney all returned with nett 69.
Bgrade winner was Craig Cottier. Runner up was Geoff Closter 68 on a countback from Sturt Low.
Bill Pyle and Jim Bransgrove were next in Bgrade both scoring 70.
Cgrade winner was Chris Hunt (21) with a 68 from runnerup Noel Brereton 71.
Nearest the pins – second: Geoff Anderson, fifth (pro pin): Adam Harris, 14th: Lea Caldwell, 17th: Fred Barton.
Scratch winner was Brad Bennett 74.

MASTER MEDAL

Noel Brereton was the winner of the master medal, a playoff between all the 2006 monthly medal winners and also a board event. The CCR was 71 and balls went down to 71.
There were 110 players in the Par event last Wednesday.

Bgrade winner: Arnold Mills (21) +6, runnerup Peter Walsh +5.
Cgrade winner: Damiel Allison +7, runnerup James Burke +5.
Nearest the pins second: Vin Bibby, 19th: Graham Austin, 23rd (pro pin): Bill Pyle.
The CCR was 70 and balls went down to 70 on a countback.

OPEN MIXED CANADIAN

On Sunday Drouin hosted an open mixed Canadian event. Winners on the day were Roger and Kerryne Fraser from Centenary Park, Frankston with a score of 66 5/8.
Runnersup were Tony and Lee Andrews with 72 1/8. Other good scores were from Wayne and Tracey English (74) and Glenn Laity and Janet Mitchell (74 5/8).

THURSDAY RESULTS

The senior ninehole event was again well attended.
Con Norris was the men’s winner with 21 points from Barry Baskett 20, Bill Todd 19, Graham Dorling 19 and Peter Andreasen 19.
Ans DeWit was the ladies winner with 20 from Mildred Lyon 19, Jill Brenchley 18, Edna Cropley 18 and Joyce Pierrehumbert 18.

COURSE CLOSED

Members are reminded that our course will be closed this Saturday due to the picnic race meeting.
Warragul, Trafalgar and Garfield have generously extended an invitation for our members to play on their courses. Contact the club for further information.
Places are still open for the proam to be held on Tuesday, 20 February, but entires are needed as soon as possible.

LADIES
Tuesday, 30 January saw the final of seven rounds played in the Downtowner sponsored Summer Cup.
Fortyplus ladies enjoyed the presentation luncheon held at the Warragul Downtowner Club and Bistro last Monday, 5 February.
The winner of the summer competition, with a four rounds total of 159 points, was Joyce Pierrehumbert.
Runnerup with a total of 156 points was Mildred Lyon on a countback from Shirley Todd, also on 156.

THURSDAY RESULTS
The seniors ninehole Thursday competition has been running throughout the holiday break.
Winners last Thursday were Ans DeWit (20 points), Mildred Lyon (19 points), Jill Brenchley, Joyce Pierrehumbert and Edna Cropley all scored 18 points.

OPENING DAY
Tuesday was opening day for 2007 and the competition was Stableford.
