Holiday restricts market

There were 345 export and 345 young cattle penned representing a decrease of 240 head week on week principally due to forthcoming holiday period.
The usual buying group were present and competing in a dearer market.
Quality was mixed with again secondary cattle scattered throughout the prime drafts and a sprinkling of grain assisted trade cattle on offer.
Grass finished milk vealers sold 10 to 15 cents per kilogram dearer, yearling trade cattle sold 10 cents stronger.
Strong demand for feeder steers saw them 10 cents dearer and grown steers were 10 cents dearer. Heavy weight grown heifers were 10 cents dearer and heavy weight Friesian steers remained firm.
Heavy weight vealers suited to butchers sold from 345 cents to 370 cents, yearling trade steers made between 338 cents and 365 cents, yearling heifers to the trade sold from 307 cents to 338 cents, and feeder steers averaged 334 cents.
Grown steers sold from 302 cents to 340 cents, Friesian heavy steers sold from 283 cents to 286 cents and heavy grown heifers sold from 285 cents to 341 cents.

The next store sale is Thursday 20 April at 10am.
There will be NO sale on Monday 17th April, 2017 due to the Easter break.
There will be NO sale on Tuesday 25th April, 2017 due to ANZAC day.
