Tough ask for Maroons

CHASING 226 and being 1/16 the previous week against Upper Beaconsfield, it was always going to be a huge task for Nyora in the teams’ B Grade clash.
Only three players – Adam Tagliaferro (19), Daneil Morrison (17) and Jake Hackett (13) – made double figures, and Nyora was never in the hunt, all out for 98.
Upper Beaconsfeild then decided to bat again and made 8/122, with Matt Hendry, Andrew Collis and Nathan Osler each taking two wickets, and Nick Fairbank and Kelvin Toogood taking one each.

D GRADE

Resuming at 2/93 chasing Cranbourne Meadows’ 143, Jimmy Watts added just one more run for Nyora before being bowled. Billy Hayes then made a fast 11 and Rory Gilliate made a lightning 26 including hitting three sixes.
The hero of the day, though, was Peter Jensen, who after 20 odd years batted through most of the innings and made his maiden century, dismissed on 110.
Nyora was all out for 252 in a good win.

F GRADE

Cranbourne Meadows won the toss and sent Nyora in to bat.
Opener Daniel Kerrison off to a flying start with 11 off the first over. Ben White came in and made 27 before being caught behind.
Leigh Jose batted well again, his 34 including two sixes and five fours.
Lee Cleary batted well making 48 not out, with a great partnership with Paul Guyer, who made 15, including two fours.
Nyora then bowled tightly with Cleary and Mitreski the best with two wickets each. Mitreski and Kerrison went for only 15 runs off their six overs, with Kerrison also getting a wicket.
Jose fielding well with a catch and Easton took the catch of the day.
Nyora won by six runs with only eight players.

UNDER 17

Chasing Cardinia’s 173 with three underage players was always going to be a big task, but the young Maroons did themselves proud, falling just 20 runs short.
A great deal of patience and improvement was shown by the whole side, with the top scorers Jake Hackett (35), Robert Provan (24), Luke Tagliaferro (19) and Aaron Cockram (18).
Nyora was all out for a fighting 153 in a great team effort.
