TWO men were killed and another injured in Five Ways near Clyde when their car went underneath a semitrailer on the South Gippsland Highway on Saturday morning.
Ricky Inverno, 28, and another man in his 20s whose name has not been released died in the collision.
A 21yearold Pakenham man was taken to The Alfred hospital.
The truck driver, a 41yearold Thomastown man, was not injured during the incident but was later treated for shock at Casey Hospital
Police said the collision happened about 4am. The front section of the car went under the semitrailer and the driver and front seat passenger were killed.
Emergency crews and police from the Major Collision Investigation Unit were on the scene for several hours.
The fatal collision has sent a shockwave through the local community.
Mr Inverno, who was married, has been described by friends as a popular, funloving man with a personality “larger than life and a laugh that no one could ever forget”.
A 70yearold Drouin woman was killed in a separate incident in Warragul on Saturday morning.
