Relay on track for a record

THE annual Casey Cardinia Relay for Life will be held at Akoonah Park, Berwick on Friday, 2 and Saturday, 3 March.
This is described as the biggest celebration of life, love and hope the region has seen and everyone can be involved.
Relay For Life raises money for The Cancer Council Victoria, supporting the nongovernment funded organisation’s work for a cure via cancer research, education and patient support services.
The Casey Cardinia Relay For Life has raised nearly $100,000 in the last three years and the 2007 event is shaping up to be the region’s most successful relay event yet.
Cochair managers, Deborah Ditchburn and Natalie Livsey, said they were overwhelmed by the support they had received.
They said teams had already exceeded the number for last year’s event with 31 registered and $55,000 already raised.
“Relay For Life is a celebration with a fun festival atmosphere. “It is a truly inspiring experience to be a part of,” Mrs Ditchburn said.
She said it was not too late to register and become a part of the Relay For Life experience. “Teams can register online at our website www.relayforlife.org.au or on the toll free number 1300 65 65 85.
“We have raffle tickets for teams to sell to kick start their fundraising and lots of ideas to help teams band together to fundraise for a cure.
“People willing to be involved can register as a volunteer to assist on the day or can show their support by attending the event as a spectator.”
Registration is $15 per person, with a recommended 10 members in a team. Teams are then encouraged to fundraise and have fun.
