NYORA’S Bgrade team won the toss against Pakenham and batted, losing the first wicket in the second over.
Nick Fairbank (45) was the next out followed by Mark Pearse on 45.
Andrew Collis then made his maiden senior in only 24 overs.
This included 10 fours and two sixes, one over midwicket to bring up his 100.
He was finally out on 117.
Under 17 player Jake Hackett (57) made his second halfcentury for the season, and Nathan Osler made a fine 38 not out.
Nyora declared after 52 overs on 9/364.
Pakenham then faced 15 overs and at stumps was 2/70 with Nick Fairbank taking 1/24 off six overs and Adam Tagliaferro 1/9 off two overs
D GRADE
IN oppressive conditions, Pakenham UpperToomuc won the toss and told Nyora to field.
Although the bowling was good, Nyora struggled to take wickets and at tea PUT was 1/108.
The next wicket fell in the second over after tea and in the 48th over PUT was 2/164 before being 9/253 at stumps.
The wicket takers were B. Robinson (3/55 off 16 overs), Peter Jenson (3/86 off 22), Andrew Cavigan (2/45 off 11) and Luke Tagliaferro (1/2 off 3 overs).
UNDER 17
Nyora won the toss and elected to bat against Officer.
The team was soon in trouble, losing two wickets in consecutive balls to be 2/0 in the second over.
The third wicket fell with the score on 12 and the fourth with the score on 22 in the sixth over.
Luke Tagliaferro then steadied with the top score of 35.
The tail also waged with the last three batsmen making the nexthighest scores, with Sam Williams (16 not out), Jade Ellams (12) and Jay Breen (13).
Nyora finishing its innings with a reasonable 111.
Officer then had to face four overs and after a Billy Hayes wicket was 1/ 3 at stumps.
UNDER 13
Tooradin won the toss and elected to bat on a hot afternoon.
Some good batting by Tooradin saw the first wicket fall in the 10th over with the score on 40.
Tooradin closed its innings at 4/73, with the best bowlers for Nyora were Mason Lambert (1/3), Michael VanWeel (1/ 5) and J. Cheyne (1/7).
Nyora’s run chase had a few hiccups, the team losing three wickets by the fifth over.
Good batting by the middle order allowed Nyora to pass Tooradin’s score, with Jay Breen getting a single on the last ball of the day thanks to good running by Jade Ellams.
Nyora was 5/74 at stumps. The best batsmen were Ellams (13 not out), Cheyne (10), Jack Strybosch (7) and Lambert (6).
