The 204 head penned at Baw Baw Livestock Exchange on Wednesday last week sold to mixed demand as prices across the state balance on the edge with lack of numbers and varying quality among yardings.
There were eight bullocks last week and this category reached a top of 303.2 cents, and an average of 274.8 cents with the yard four cents easier at 284.5 cents, 21 heifers made to 300 cents, up 23, and averaged 229.1 cents, back 19 cents, 20 steers made to 319.2 cents, up 37 cents, and averaged 274.6 cents, back four cents, and 155 veal made to 348 cents and averaged 300.2 cents, up seven cents.
Thursday faired a bit better with 192 head penned, and prices rallied a little, with this market stronger.
Seventeen bulls topped at 317.2 cents, up five cents to average nine cents up at 281.4 cents, bullock numbers were back with three yarded and sold to a top of 300 cents, and the top price for the 172 cows was 22 cents up at 280 cents, and the cow average was firm at 216.6 cents, and this week’s yard average improved four cents at 225.3 cents.
The draw for 26 and 27 July is: 1, Gibbon; 2, Elders; 3, Landmark; 4, S.E.J.; 5, Scotts.
