Yard increase sees competition

Numbers were back again last Wednesday for the fat sale with 171 head yarded.
More bullocks were offered and this increased competition.
Heifers were the same with some good weights noticed and brisk competition among buyers.
Good quality pens in the steer category lifted values with feedlots among the action.
Vealer condition in the lighter pens slipped bringing the overall average back.
The week’s yard average remained firm at 284.9 cents.
Twelve bullocks topped at 310 cents, up seven cents, and averaged 284.2 cents, up 10 cents, 31 heifers topped at 310 cents, up 10 cents, and averaged 275.9 cents, up 46 cents, 51 steers topped at 318 cents, firm, and averaged 290.4 cents, up 16 cents, and 72 veal topped at 390.2 cents and averaged 295.8 cents, back five cents.
Prices slipped a little for the bull and cow sale on the Thursday, with the yarding back 16 cents to 209.3 cents.
There were 29 bulls offered and the top was 290.2 cents, and bulls averaged 30 cents easier at 251.3 cents, the cow sale was also easier with the top making to 268 cents, back 12 cents, and averaging 16 cents lighter at 200.7 cents.
The draw for 2 and 3 August is: 1 Elders, 2 Landmark, 3 Scotts. 4 S.E.J., 5 Gibbon.
