ROYAL Agricultural Society of Victoria president Jack Seymour said show societies had tremendous power that they did not use.
Mr Seymour was addressing the Berwick Show president’s lunch in the Akoonah Park Centre on Saturday.
He said Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, was president of the Royal Agricultural Society that represented 312 shows in Australia.
“We have tremendous power that we do not use. “We are a team of volunteers and we need government support.
“We appreciate council support and we have a major sponsor in Coca Cola that means we can give one major award each year.”
He referred to the successful Berwick Show and noted that shows brought families and had strong pulling power to support a lobby.
Mr Seymour officially opened the show.
