Quality improves on steady market

Numbers remained similar to last week although quality improved.
There were a few additional pens of lighter weighted supplementary fed cattle in this sale which lifted competition and buyer interest.
Consequently trade cattle prices rebounded from last week’s downtrend to improve by 10 cents and even more on some sales.
The best of the vealers to the trade reached 342 cents.
While several pens of the plainer quality vealers went back out to the paddock.
The supplementary fed yearling steers were of lighter weights and the B and C muscled grades ranged from 306 cents to 338 cents to average 316 cents.
Grass finished yearlings made from 290 cents to 308 cents.
The yearling heifers ranged from 278 cents to 328 cents to average 302 cents to also be 10 cents dearer with the best of the supplementary fed lines seeing higher gains.
The 500 to 600kg steers C3 and C4 made from 286 cents to 300 cents to average 291 cents.
The 600kg plus bullocks made to 287 cents.
The VLE draw for the week commencing Monday 21 August is: 1, Everitt, Seeley and Bennetts; 2, Landmark; 3, Rodwells; 4, S.E.J.; 5, Nathan Gibbon Livestock; 6, Alex Scott and Staff; 7, Elders.
The next store sale is on Thursday 24 August commencing at 10am.
