Garfield fires for finals

GARFIELD Bowling Club’s divisiontwo side overcame all odds in pennant to beat the previously undefeated Longwarry on Saturday to make the final four.
Added to this achievement was the division 62 team finishing second in its finals bid and the ladies team played its finals game on Tuesday.
Garfield has three of its four teams in the finals.

Playing at Garfield in the final homeandaway game of the season, Garfield (2) pulled out all stops to achieve its most important win of the season.
Scores were: Steve Bassed, Stephen Whyte, Tom Cleary and Ray Biffin lost to K. White’s team 18 to 27.
Gary Payne, Shane Oliver, Bob Lamport and Malcolm Shaw lost to B. White’s team 19 to 27.
Jimmy Oliver, K.D. Pumphrey, Hank Wouters and Frank Prinz defeated J. McCarthy’s team 24 to 17.
The big winners were president Col Mills’ team including Stu Robertson, Reg W. Mattingley and Colin Carmichael who defeated F. Hone’s team 24 to 12.

Division 62 had a solid win over Warragul (6) at Warragul on Saturday.
Scores were; Alex Mentiplay, Geoff Gaskell, Wayne Gunton and Matthew Smith defeated J. Connor’s team 24 to 20.
Bob Hope, Laurie Wright, Doc Doherty and Bill Charles defeated M. Portelli’s team 29 to 19.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:DIVISION 63

Division 63 finished the season on a high note defeating Trafalgar Park by 17 shots.
Scores were: Les Shatwell, Don Knight, John Rose and Adrian Helmuth defeated A. Smith’s team 24 to 21.
Gordon Beer, Keith Sainsbery, Barrie Smith and Wes Goodman defeated D. Swingler’s team 33 to 19.
Division 63 finished in fourth place, one spot out of the final three.
