Cougar bats buckle

AFTER a promising start, Clyde’s Agrade bats fell away, posting a mediocre 188 against Officer at home on Saturday.
Openers Callum O’Hare and Daniel Waite got the Cougars away to a steady start and patiently built a partnership.
O’Hare was dismissed for 38 with the score 1/64 in the 25th over.
Form batsman Jarrod Leontini then joined Waite and launched an early attack hitting 20 off one over, before falling for 28 and Clyde then lost another before going to tea at 3/131.
Leontini continued his run spree before falling for 62, but then the Clyde bottom order fell away.
Shane Webster provided some resistance with a defiant 17, but Clyde lost its last seven wickets for 43 runs in only 16 overs.

Also playing Officer, the Cougars won the toss and elected to bat, losing two early wickets before Mick Bain and Bun O’Hare steadied the innings.
After Bain was dismissed there was a collapse at the hands of Bullant opening bowler Liam Main that saw Clyde crash to 6/79.
O’Hare again made runs with 34, but Clyde went into tea at 6/96 with Ben Ferarri and Nick Miles stopping the fall of wickets.
Nick Miles fell for 17 not long after tea and Nathan Lillee joined Ferrari and when the latter was dismissed for 37, Clyde was in deep trouble at 8/145 with 25 overs left.
Clayton Blair came to the crease and launched an assault on the Bullant bowlers, making 59 including three sixes and seven fours as they put on an 82run partnership.
Daven Johnston joined Lillee for the last wicket and helped get Lillee over the line for 53 notout.
Johnston was dismissed in the last over for 13 and Clyde ended with a respectable 258.

Clyde made the journey to Nyora and was in strife before the start with only nine players.
Cougars’ captain Matt Sinnema gave some resistance with a defiant 22, but even with some lateorder bashing from Dean Jackson with 26, Clyde could only manage 81 from 28 overs.
Clyde then bowled and Clint Tiesler got an early wicket, but a 119run stand put the match beyond doubt.
Junior Pat Lawson took a wicket then Nyora declared at 2/128.
Clyde then had to bat for 19 overs and unfortunately lost three quick wickets to be 3/17.
Sinnema (13 not out) and Tiesler (12 not out) saw the Cougars to stumps at 3/35.

Clyde played at home against Emerald Black and batted first.
Opening bat Patrick Harmes started well with 22 and Matt Venning played patiently for his 12.
Unfortunately the rest of the team struggled against a fine spell of bowling by Cailen Parker (5/13) and was dismissed for 59 in the 21st over.
The Cougars bowlers then toiled well without luck and Emerald ended the day just one run behind without the loss of a wicket.
