THERE were plenty of thrills when the junior tennis preliminary finalists were settled after Saturday’s semifinals.
Top sectionone team Clyde led those advancing to the summer season grand finals with a solid win over Upper Beaconsfield.
There will be no play this Saturday with preliminary finals played the following Saturday, 17 March.
As there is no spare weekend, matches that are incomplete (or not started) will be continued or played on the Sunday from 9am at the venues indicated.
Players must have played at least three matches, one in each half of the season and a third match in either half, to be eligible to play in the finals.
A system of advantage sets with a tiebreak at six gamesall will apply for all sections. In addition, the doubles sections (13 to 18) will play a conventional (advantage) deuce.
The standard of tennis attire, as set out in the bylaws booklet, must be followed.
Doubles teams are to be accompanied by two adult umpires and singles teams one adult referee. There is no need for these referees to be inside the court enclosure, the singles sections players umpire themselves.
In addition all teams are to supply one pair of approved new balls.
The firstmentioned team is deemed to be the home team and is to supply a scorecard.
The completed scorecard is to be delivered to Barry Palmer by 10pm. If a match is incomplete, the home team is to retain the card and phone in the match status.
There will be no draws in finals. If scores are level after the last set, the match will be decided with a singles (sections one to 12) or doubles (sections 13 to 18) tiebreak.
