OFFICER’S Agrade team went down fighting by two wickets in the semifinal against Kooweerup at the weekend.
Batting first after winning the toss, Officer got off to a good start with an 113 opening stand between Rod Zlonzak who made a quick 69 to top score with Chris Savage 45 whose innings included a big six into the clubrooms.
Officer then had a collapse with six wickets falling for 41 runs with Ben Tivendale making 15 and Ben Baxter 10.
Captain Shane White then combined with Kable Dowsett to put on a valuable stand of 68 for the ninth wicket.
White scored 37 and Dowsett 32, both batsmen hitting sixes.
Officer made 228 and then bowled for one over before stumps.
Kooweerup started the second day with an opening stand of 33 before Ben Tivendale got the first wicket and then followed up with a second wicket in his eighth over, finishing with 2/71 in his 16 overs.
Dowsett bowled 18 overs and took 2/47 with Sean Marchetti 1/57 and Andrew Tucker the best of the bowlers with 3/36 off 14 overs.
Colin Tucker took four catches and Officer fought back to need two wickets with Kooweerup needing nine runs to win, after Kooweerup was 6/218 and well placed for a win.
It wasn’t to be, as Kooweerup’s tailenders got it over the line in the 66th over.

The senior presentation will be held at the clubrooms on Saturday, 31 March.
The juniors and ‘No Boundaries’ team held their presentation last Friday and thanks to all those who worked hard to organise were thanked for what was described as an excellent night.
Under13 trophy winners were Jessie Longmuir with the bowling average and batting average and Jake Tivendale got the batting aggregate and Nathan Sellick got the bowling aggregate and coaches award.
In the under 15s, Tom Marks picked up the batting average and aggregate and Matt Buntine the bowling aggregate.
Ben Martin had a good season with 10 wickets at 17.0 average.
Under17 batting average and aggregate went to Matt Cooper with 237 runs in nine innings.
Matt Cooper also won the bowling average and Andrew Crew the bowling aggregate with 11 wickets.
Daniel Beaumont won the coaches award and Andrew Crew received an award for his five wickets against Nyora, while Jayden Bell and Matt Cooper won awards for their innings of 50 runs.
