EMERALD’S Fgrade oneday side moved into the grand final after a strong semifinal win against Merinda Park at the weekend.
Batting first the Bombers got off to a good start with Gary Santini making 14 at the start of the innings.
Geoff Worrell and Tim Robinson then got together and put on a good stand that saw the two batsmen retire on well made 50s.
At the end of the innings Darren Fellow produced some good hitting to get the score up to 187 off the Bombers’ 35th over.
In reply Emerald got off to a good start with Robinson and Worrell getting early wickets.
Robinson got the impressive figures of 2/3 off four overs.
Then Kevin Stapleton came on and put the game beyond doubt as his sixover spell produced 3/14 to see the Bombers into next week’s grand final.
UNDER 17 BLACK
The Bomber Blacks will also play in the grand final after a good win against Nar Nar GoonMaryknoll in the semifinal.
Bowling first on day one, Rob Wynne picked up two quick wickets to put Emerald on the front foot.
However, the Bombers had to wait until the score was on 61 for the next wicket and then the next ball Euan Thoms found himself on a hattrick.
Cailin Parker bowled well for his 2/24, as did Ash Lucas who picked up 2/15.
Emerald dismissed Nar Nar GoonMaryknoll for 126 after its 40 overs.
On Sunday Emerald got off to a solid start before Dan Leversha was out in the 10th over.
Byron Sidwell and Zeb Quigley then batted Emerald into a commanding position to see the score to 80 before Sidwell was out for a well made 27.
The wicket of Quigley followed soon after as he was caught for 32, but Ash Lucas (27 not out) and Euan Thoms saw the Bombers home with eight overs to go.
UNDER 15 BLACK
Emerald won its home semifinal against the Beacy Saints for a grandfinal spot.
On day one, the Bombers were asked to bat first and got off to a great start with Jesse Dodd playing well at the top of the innings to retire on 30.
Danny Ceeney also batted well and was the first wicket to fall, with the score on 69.
Andy Alenson continued on his good form as he posted another 30 and was well supported by Tyler Sidwell’s 17 and Tom Baldock became the Bombers’ third retiree when he made his 30.
At the end of the 40 overs the Bombers had the healthy score of 6/188.
On Sunday, Emerald bowled well at the start of the innings, but things got rolling when Tye Johnston and Josh Newman got together and picked up 6/11.
The score fell from 1/41 to 7/52 with Johnston collecting the amazing figures of 4/1 off six overs.
Newman got 2/9 off four overs then Liam O’Sillivan collected 2/14 off his four overs to see Beacy bowled out for 89.
