Dogs and chips make for a big day out

PETS can be microchipped for $20 from 9am to 2pm on Saturday, 31 March at the Casey Civic Centre car park, Magid Drive, Narre Warren.
Casey acting manager administration Jarrod Doake said one benefit of microchipping pets was the quick return of the animal if it was lost.
A barcode on the microchip is linked to the pet owner’s contact details and confidentially recorded on the Central Animal Records.
This means an animal is permanently identified Australiawide and can be returned to its owner, even if its collar or council tag has come off.
From Tuesday 1 May 2007 Victorian legislation requires that all newlyregistered animals are to be microchipped.
Casey’s microchipping day will have fun for the whole family including a petting zoo, face painting, jumping castle, animal photographer and roving performers.
There will be dog competitions from 12.30pm including most obedient dog, the dog that can bark on command, the dog with the longest ears, the dog with the waggiest tail, the largest and smallest dogs, the dog with the longest coat and the dog that can jump the highest.
