Opportunity to help

ON behalf of the Cardinia Diabetes Awareness Group, I would like to sincerely thank the small band of voluntary workers at the Pakenham Opportunity Shop.
We, like many other local groups, have been fortunate enough to receive a cheque from their annual distribution of funds.
This small shop is the original Pakenham Opportunity Shop and for over 30 years has distributed its profits back into Pakenham and local communities. Nursing homes, local fire brigades, sporting groups as well as selfhelp groups would be struggling to survive without this annual distribution of funds from the Pakenham Opportunity Shop.
Residents having a cleanout should remember their local shop.
I have heard money is spent on disposing of broken items or clothing items that are not suitable for resale.
Maybe there is a voluntary group who may wish to take the old clothing, cut it up, bag it and resell as rags to workshops or factories!
Cardinia Diabetes Awareness Group meets the first Wednesday of the month, at 10am at the Uniting Church in James Street, Pakenham.
Bev Hind,
Pakenham.
