RECORD entries in horse and cattle events helped to make the 2009 Lang Lang Show a spectacle for the crowds.
Cooler weather helped too, show secretary Cheryl Berry said, the comfortable temperature assisting the horses and their owners.
About 200 horses competed in the show jumping events, performing to a high standard.
The number of entries in the dog events were also higher than in previous years.
A large crowd of spectators gathered on Saturday for the displays, entertainment, animal events, and judging, including many people from across Melbourne and further afield.
“One man rang from Pascoe Vale, intending to catch the bus to Lang Lang for the show,” Cheryl said.
The Lang Lang Show is one of the oldest in the state, reaching its centenary seven years ago. The first one was held in the year of Federation, 1901.
