A CONCERNED Pakenham mother is warning other parents to teach their children about “stranger danger” after a man stopped and demanded her stepson get in his car.
Jodie Menad said nine-year-old Dylan was walking to a bus stop in Dunbarton Drive on Thursday morning when he was approached by the man.
The Grade 4 student ran to the house of a family friend near the bus stop.
Ms Menad said the incident happened just a week after she gave her stepson the “stranger danger” talk.
“I said just run to the bus stop – don’t stop, don’t do anything,” she said.
Ms Menad urged all parents to teach their children what to do if they were approached by a stranger.
“We have a lot of kids in this area that are unattended and left to roam on their own,” she said.
Pakenham Police said the man who approached Dylan was driving a white Hyundai Excel.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Pakenham Police on 5945 2500.
