SUBSIDISED training is available for those who form the backbone of the community – Cardinia’s volunteers.
The council and the ‘Volunteering in Cardinia Shire’ project have joined forces with community learning centres, neighbourhood houses and Chisholm TAFE to provide subsidised training opportunities for our volunteers.
Courses in food handling, Level 2 first aid, working with special needs and basic computing will kick start the subsidised program.
The term one course calendar has been released as a pilot project and information is available from the council’s website and local training providers including Bunyip and District Community House, Outlook, Upper Beaconsfield Community Centre, Beaconsfield Community Centre, Cockatoo Neighbourhood House, Lang Lang Community Centre and Living and Learning Pakenham.
Cardinia Shire mayor Bill Pearson said it was simple to register interest in volunteering.
“Reduced training fees should encourage more people to volunteer and they in turn will develop useful new skills.”
The training calendar can be downloaded from the council’s website, or for more information phone 1300 787 624.
Registrations for subsidised training courses should be made directly to the training provider who will complete the subsidy form.
