THE CFA is hoping for good weather this week as firefighters try to contain the Bunyip State Park fire.
The CFA’s general manager of Western Port area, Peter Schmidt, has warned residents the blaze will burn for weeks – possibly even months. Strong wind or heat could threaten locals living in the vicinity of the fire.
Fire is still burning in the Bunyip State Park, with a 20km edge backing onto the forest, slightly west of Noojee back to the north of Tonimbuk.
Mr Schmidt urged residents in or near Powelltown, Tonimbuk, Labertouche and Neerim South to remain vigilant.
Hopes rest on weather
