THE Cardinia Environment Coalition’s Nursery, which grows plants for the Western Port Catchment Landcare Network’s projects, has been offered a boost by Outlook Vic.
Outlook is a disability support service operating from Pakenham.
The nursery was looking for volunteer help and Outlook was looking for work experience for its clients.
Landcare facilitator Julie Weatherhead met with Outlook staff Lisa, Melissa and Theresa to view the works area and discuss the possible jobs that could be achieved.
The Outlook team have proved to be excellent workers in sterilising the recycled plant pots, packing them into boxes and pricking out the seedlings into the filled pots.
The team have proven invaluable to the nursery and nursery manager Olivia Parr is delighted with their work.
Olivia said: “Thanks to the team we are now able to produce many more plants each week.
“The team enjoyed engaging with the other nursery volunteers they met during their work and a fun time is had by all.”
Anyone interested in learning how to propagate native plants while helping to produce plants for the Landcare Network is welcome to come along to the Nursery on a Tuesday or Wednesday morning.

FIELD DAYS
A SERIES of field days have been organised by the Western Port Catchment Landcare Network to review and promote the work of the Landcare Network and to pass on new skills and valuable information to landholders.
DIRECT SEED
DIRECT seed is a quick and cheap way to plant long shelterbelts on bare land.
A series of field days have been organised to demonstrate how this process works.
Four farms will have sites direct seeded by different methods.
Landholders interested in this process for their own property are invited to come along to any of these workshops.
Refreshments will be provided. All of the field days begin at 10am.
