SINGLE ladies take note: most of Nar Nar Goon’s men are still on the market.
Channel Seven’s program ‘Sunday Night’ brought a busload of single ladies to the Goon two weeks ago for a night of dancing, music and romance.
While the social experiment made for some interesting TV, the majority of Nar Nar Goon’s men are still counting themselves as single.
One lucky punter was Owen Studd, who got the attention of Dina Speigler when he threw a bread roll at his mate Derek, narrowly missing Dina’s head.
Owen and Dina have scored a free trip to Hamilton Island from Channel Seven, who are sending the pair off to the tropics to help foster their romance.
Damian Coatman also caught the eye of the ladies.
“I met a girl, and she’s coming back to Melbourne next week,” he said.
But Mick Macdermid, along with most of the other guys, is still looking for love.
“I had a good time, chatted with a few ladies and danced, but I’m still single.”
The action continued long after the cameras stopped rolling, with the lads taking the Coutts Crossing girls back to the Nar Nar Goon Hotel and then to Narre Warren club 1422, where they partied until 5am.
Since his TV appearance, Owen has become a bit of a celebrity around town.
“My phone is just ringing off the hook. My sisters set up a facebook page for me and apparently it’s going off, but I haven’t seen it — I don’t even have a computer,” he said.
“But we’ll see how it goes (with Dina). Nothing ventured, nothing gained.”
According to 2006 census statistics, there are 12 single 30-something men for every single woman of the same age in ‘the Goon’ — making for some lonely nights down at the pub for Nar Nar Goon’s blokes.
