Weather aids vealers’ value

THE warm weather and recent rain has started to kick feed along, and restockers took advantage of some good quality secondary veal yarded this Wednesday, causing vealers to rise 13 cents on average to 178.1; the better end also lifted and reached a top this week of 229.2.
A total of 82 heifers of varying quality sold to recent demands with prices remaining similar to last week. This week’s top was 172 cents, 136 steers managed to rise five cents on average to 158.9. The secondary section sold to good demand, and the top end sold to 190 cents, 94 bullocks also rose on average this week by 2.5 cents to 153.2 and reached 167.2 for a top price.
Bulls on Thursday made to 162 cents and rose three cents on average to 138.3, while cows remained unchanged on average and recorded a top of 140 cents.
