THE Rodeo is coming to Berwick.
The Berwick Rodeo and Music Festival will be held on Saturday 28 March at Akoonah Park from midday to 11pm.
The family fun event will feature a rodeo endorsed by the Australian Professional Rodeo Association, freestyle bmx displays, carnival rides, free face painting, circus acts, and market and food stalls.
Rodeo enthusiasts will also be treated to a variety of music including Dale Ryder from Boom Crash Opera, with The Bench, Tobasco Tom and Doc White, Mainstream and Claptonesque.
The eye-catching freestyle bmx displays will take place at 12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm, with the rodeo running from 4pm to 7pm.
Event organiser John Woods said the Berwick Park had never held a rodeo previously.
Mr Woods said the event, which is expected to attract more than 3000 people, would showcase local and national riders all competing for the chance at taking home the prize pool of between $10,000 and $15,000.
The event has taken Mr Woods and the organising committee around 15 months to plan.
“We’re all set and ready to put on this unique family fun rodeo event,” he said.
Tickets cost $20 per adult and a family ticket, for two adults and three children, costs $50.
Children under the age of 15 years cost $10, with admission for children under five years, free.
There would be a discount for pensioners and tickets can be purchased at the gate.
