WITH the first 100 years down, the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League now looks forward to the next century with excitement and anticipation.
On behalf of the MPNFL board of directors, I welcome football followers across the region to season 2009.
After a hugely successful celebration of the 2008 Centenary Season, a new year brings new hope for all clubs, coaches and players in the Casey Cardinia Football and Netball League, together with its sister Nepean and Peninsula Leagues.
This year brings new challenges to our football clubs with off-field pressure as a result of the world economic crisis, but fortunately the MPNFL and its clubs are among the best administered in the VCFL and are well placed to ride out these difficult financial times.
There will be no change to the 11-club Casey Cardinia League, however the MPNFL under-18 Colts competition will grow to two divisions this season with an anticipated eight sides competing in the Casey Cardinia district division.
The MPNFL is thrilled to retain former Seaford junior and St Kilda champion Robert Harvey as its ambassador in 2009, together with Australian Diamonds defender, Bianca Chatfield as our netball ambassador.
