MP seeks more

GEMBROOK MP Tammy Lobato has called on Sports and Recreation Minister James Merlino to fast track funding for Beaconsfield’s Holm Park Road Reserve.
This follows the Federal Government announcing a $264,000 boost to the project last fortnight and Ms Lobato wants the State Government to almost double that pledge.
“I raised this matter in the Parliament last December and requested that the Shire of Cardinia’s application for $500,000 be regarded favourably, taking into account the demonstrable need for additional sporting facilities in this area,” she said.
Ms Lobato was at the Holm Park Road site last Wednesday with Cardinia Shire mayor Bill Pearson and councillor George Blenkhorn.
The recent funding announcement will enable work on the Holm Park Road sporting precinct to get underway.
The Holm Park Road Recreation Reserve master plan includes three ovals, four cricket practice nets, two sports pavilions, netball and tennis courts, a skate park and car parking.
There is also provision for development of a future recreation area including a new playground, barbecue and picnic areas with tables, seating, bins and shelters.
The Federal Government has provided the funding through its $800 million Community Infrastructure Program.
