Demand firm on quality

GOOD quality vealers sold to strong demand on Wednesday at Baw Baw Livestock Exchange, Warragul, reaching 243.2 cents and were quoted two to three cents dearer.
Lighter store types also sold well with re-stockers busy at the sale. This week’s yarding of 435 head was on par with recent sales in regard to quality with around nine percent making over the 200 cent mark.
Demand remained firm for steers with no change in the average, and the top price was 203 cents.
Heifers took a good leap forward rising 12 cents to 151.5 and made to 171.2 cents.
Bullocks only were on offer and with no change in demand the result was a six cent lift in price, bullocks topped at 170 cents.
Thursday’s sale saw bulls and cows both sell to higher demand with bulls up three cents and cows were also up slightly. Top bull made 165 cents and the top cow 156.2.
