Tooradin fights it out

TOORADIN Netball Club’s Bgrade team fought hard but missed a spot in the grand final, losing a tight preliminary final to Dingley by five goals at the weekend.
Dingley grabbed the lead early and was determined to keep it and a flat performance did not accurately reflect the talent the Tooradin team has.
Loretta Iverach was a stand out for the day taking the bestoncourt award.
Another was Julia Rowan who came on at halftime with a fighting spirit and put into play everything the coaches asked of her with great driving into the centre court and tight defence.
Scores: Dingley 39 d Tooradin 34.

C GRADE

C Grade came up against Beaconsfield in the preliminary final on Sunday in very windy conditions and lost by seven goals to Beaconsfield.
Tooradin started with a great opening quarter and did show some signs of good play throughout the game, but couldn’t seem to piece together the fourquarter effort required to come away with the win.
Beaconsfield was able to stay in front, and Tooradin could not reduce the margin enough and lost by seven goals.

15 AND UNDER

Tooradin came out firing, determined to win a spot in the grand final.
Defenders Emily Van Rooye and Megan Ellett worked tirelessly against taller opposition and shook up the defensive goal ring, taking intercepts and forcing the Beaconsfield attack to make repeated errors.
Tooradin’s midcourt capitalised on these turnovers with incredible drive through the midcourt from all players working together.
The goalers played a smart game with Ashley Heald’s height and skills proving an advantage in the ring and Holly Booth’s goaling ensuring a handy lead throughout the game.
Scores: Tooradin 27 d Beaconsfield 21.

13 AND UNDER

TooradinDalmore played an excellent game on Sunday, to gain a place in the grand final against Pakenham.
Tooradin came out of the blocks hard against Doveton and adapted well to the wet and slippery conditions.
Goalers Kellie North and Melissa Attwood showed great persistence and determination in the goal ring, goaling, rebounding and moving well.
Defenders Mel Mantel and Tiff Findlay, played great games in defence rebounding, and intercepting the whole game. Summa James made some great drives through the midcourt and fed the goalers well.
After half time, the team kept working hard. Tarah Martin and Sara Tanner had excellent games in WD, never giving up and restricting their player receiving passes and driving onto the ring. Shannon Peasley ran in the centre all game, passing, defending, and intercepting brilliantly all game. Laura Yue played well in WA, feeding the goalers and making some muchneeded leads through the midcourt.
Scores: Tooradin 19 d Doveton 14.
