MEMBERS of Pakenham’s Inner Wheel Club were out in force collecting coins for cord blood research.
They collected $120 at a rotary club booth outside Coles Pakenham on 24 April, the National Fundraising Day in support of cord blood research.
Cord blood is the blood left behind in the placenta and umbilical cord after a baby’s birth.
It is a source of blood-forming stem cells, which can be used instead of bone marrow transplants in children.
