Students give anger the chop

LANG LANG Primary School students are kicking personal goals, thanks to a martial arts therapy program.
Internationally-renowned martial artist Darren Ball has been instructing the students each Wednesday, as the school looks to add a physical component to its social skilling program.
The program focuses on building self-esteem, handling peer pressure, making good choices, respect and responsibility, body image, managing strong emotions, social skills training and developing positive thoughts.
The students take part in breathing, stretching, balance exercises and games.
Mr Ball is a Fudoshin Weapons Master and third Dan black belt. He grew up learning the art from his father, Tony Ball, a seventh Dan, sixth Dan Dai Nippon Butoku Kai (Japan), Fudoshin Master’s Certificate and Fudoshin weapons master.
The father and son duo demonstrated their skills in front of the Japanese Emperor at the Dai Nippon Butoku Kai International Tai Kai in 2008 – one of only two times which outsiders have been permitted to attend since its beginnings in 1985.
