Service is key to success- Gerald Treasure has seen the business he started grow 10-fold over

BEACONSFIELD Timber and Hardware celebrates two special milestones this year.
It is the company’s 25th year of operation, and this June marks one year since the family business became part of the Home Hardware group.
When the hardware store opened in 1984, owners Gerald and Mona Treasure employed just one other person to help run the business.
A quarter of a century later, the business has grown to employ a staff of 35, with four trucks and two utes making deliveries to Casey, Cardinia and beyond.
Gerald and Mona’s son, Rohan Treasure, joined the business in 2000 and took over as managing director when Gerald retired in 2002.
The business is now part of the Home Hardware group, and opened a massive purpose-built hardware store last June.
“The strength of our business has always been our focus on customer service,” Rohan Treasure said.
“A lot of our clients have been with us a long time and they know they get looked after properly.”
Beaconsfield Timber and Hardware has also been a strong supporter of local clubs, including Beaconsfield senior and junior football clubs and Beaconsfield Netball Club.
“We are very proud to be major sponsors of the football and netball clubs. We now have a community barbecue trailer free to any groups to hold a sausage sizzle and raise funds for themselves,” Mr Treasure said.
To celebrate the milestone birthday, Beaconsfield Timber and Hardware is having a one-day-only sale on Saturday 6 June, with specials on outdoor furniture, terracotta pots and barbecues. All purchases on the day will go in to a draw to win a plasma TV.
The celebration will not be Beaconsfield Timber and Hardware’s last.
“We plan to still be here in 25 years,” Mr Treasure said.
