MPNFL Sharks v WGLFL

MPNFL: The MPNFL has gone for speed and enthusiasm for the interleague concept as part of its selection criteria.
That means a take-them-on attitude when the ball is free and plenty of excitement.

WGLFL: Coach Hayden Burgiel has not beaten around the bush. He has picked a side that has plenty of muscle around the ball and said he intends to play a physical game.
If it’s wet as predicted, that could be a big advantage.

MPNFL: Given that the MPNFL side is a mixture of players from three completely separate competitions, how many players will have to introduce themselves to each other before the game?

WGLFL: Will the visitors have the leg-speed to go with the MPNFL on the vast Pakenham ground all day?

MPNFL: Ryan Hendy is the Sharks ‘jack-in-the-pack’.
If the elusive Doveton forward can snag a major early, then his confidence will rise and it will be a case of sitting back and watching the Hendo Show.

WGLFL: It seems like we’ve been saying this for years, but a bloke by the name of Adrian Burgiel has been a one-man Latrobe Valley match winner for years.
Again it will be so if the ball is nearby.

The Toomuc Reserve is unforgiving for any team that approaches a hitout there with a slack attitude.
It is big and open and conducive to attacking football.
Both sides in action this weekend will be intent on making a break and the one that does that first will win.
Michael Holland knows this venue better than any so the MPNFL has the edge, but not by much.
