VICROADS is investigating whether a section of Kooweerup-Longwarry Road needs to be repaired.
In last week’s Gazette, residents called upon the road authority to urgently fix a notorious sweeping bend on the road.
They were concerned about an escalating number of collisions on the road in recent weeks and feared it was only a matter of time before a fatality occurred on the bend, just outside the Kooweerup township.
There were four separate smashes on the road within the space of two hours on Saturday 15 May.
Praveen Reddy, Acting Regional Director of VicRoads Metropolitan South East, said the authority was aware of residents’ concerns.
“VicRoads has recently inspected the section of the road in question and is waiting on a report into the quality of the surface,” he said.
“In the event that the road requires repairs, VicRoads will arrange the necessary works.”
