BEACONHILLS College students and their parents recently toured a Hallam recycling facility as part of a sustainability education program.
They witnessed the emptying of the trucks and the sorting of recyclables.
Judy Barton, head of junior school at the college’s Berwick campus, said the school was doing all it could to educated members of the school community about how they could reduce their impact on the environment.
She said the excursion to Thiess Services Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) in Hallam helped parents to better understand how to recycle and to use more practical green ideas at home.
“Beaconhills is committed to helping care for the environment and believes it is important for both individuals and groups to take responsibility for it”, she said.
“This excursion, building on the parent partnership within the school, was just one of the many ways the college is helping the community better understand their role in caring for our planet.”
