INFORMATION meetings on the proposed Casey Activity Centre at Fountain Gate will be held at 1pm on Monday, 17 October and at 7.30pm on Thursday, 20 October.
Both meetings will be held at the civic centre, Magid Drive, Narre Warren.
Casey chief executive Mike Tyler said the plan for the major activity centre would be explained to residents at the meetings.
Mr Tyler described the plan as the “most exciting and significant project ever undertaken in the municipality”.
He said a vibrant new arts, community, civic and retail centre would be created at the Fountain GateNarre Warren central business district and that the community was invited to provide feedback and ideas to help shape a detailed community design brief.
“The Casey Activity Centre is to be built on council land where the Narre Warren library and council offices are located,” Mr Tyler said.
“The centre will create new facilities for all Casey residents and be an important regional arts hub for Casey, southeast Melbourne and Gippsland.
“While some of the key components of the new activity centre have been determined through a separate structure planning exercise, community input is vital to ensure we create a lifestyle precinct that reflects the needs and desires of people who live and work in Casey.”
Mr Tyler said a community reference group with representatives from key user groups would be established.
