THESEARCH is on for a couple of cars with vice-regal connections … a Porsche and a Mini, driven by Australia’s Governor-General Lord Casey and Maie Casey.
The Edrington History Research Group wants to track down the whereabouts of the cars and collect stories about them, to add to a collection of books, papers, and photographs about Edrington.
Another car, the Caseys’ Bentley, is now in a Fremantle motor museum in Western Australia.
Members of the history group also want to discover the whereabouts of a sundial that was in front of the Edrington mansion.
Richard Casey, Baron Casey of Berwick, took his seat in the House of Lords in 1960 and became Australia’s Governor-General in 1965. His wife Maie was an artist and aviator.
Much has been written about the Caseys and their country farm.
The Caseys were among seven owners of Edrington since 1835. The City of Casey is named after them.
Edrington is now a retirement village.
