SHOWJUMPING is on track to provide thrilling entertainment at the 2007 Berwick Show.
The Akoonah Park grounds, despite the drought, have been well prepared and this is complemented by plenty of grandstand seating provided in the shade of lovely gums.
Spectators are sure to enjoy two days of showjumping.
Course designer David Sheppard is well respected for building courses that are good to ride while still testing horse and rider.
Events start at 8am with the Akoonah Park Stars of the Future Junior Rider event that always attracts a large field of our most promising young riders up to age 18. The Equinade D Grade for horses jumping up to 1.10m will follow this.
The show society welcomes on board this year Hanson Construction Materials as new sponsors supporting the open class for horse jumping to 1.30 metres.
The Saturday evening program includes the exciting six bar competition on the main arena sponsored by the Bendigo Bank.
This is an elimination event over six obstacles with the bar rising over five successive rounds with the last surviving competitor the winner.
The Sunday jumping program starts at 8.30am and includes classes for D, C and B grade horses along with the Berwick Drafting and Design Open Class for horses jumping 1.35m and over.
This year all winners will receive inscribed trophy rugs from Skye Park Rugs.
The society acknowledges the continued support of judges Ron Lewis and Anne Garner and the many helpers from Port Phillip Show Jumping Club.
