OFFICERand Beaconsfield have been named as areas to received improved broadband access.
La Trobe MP Jason Wood said the Federal Government’s $162.5 million Australian Broadband would provide universal broadband for all Australians.
It would fill many remaining broadband black spots, including some areas in La Trobe.
“Benefits include increased subsidies of up to $2750 a connection, Mr Wood said. “This means that some areas will receive up to a fivefold increase in their subsidy from $500 to $2750.
“Any one in La Trobe unable to gain a reasonable broadband service at their principal place of residence or small business will be able to receive a subsidised broadband service.
“The guarantee will continue to give eligible consumers subsidised, pricecapped broadband with a guaranteed minimum level of service, but with the benefit of simpler eligibility requirements.”
