CLEANUP crews around Cardinia got down and dirty on Sunday.
Dozens of volunteers armed with rubbish bags and gloves targeted creeks and roadsides in need of a spruceup as part of CleanUp Australia Day.
Cleanup targets around the district included Cardinia Creek at Beaconsfield, Lakeside at Pakenham, the Toomuc Valley and Army Road, Pakenham.
Scarlett Hardy, of Hardy’s Mitre 10 Mega, said a team of residents and Mitre 10 staff scoured Army Road for rubbish.
“It was extremely successful — we filled over 60 large garbage bags of rubbish from the side of the road,” she said.
