Catani gets jump on Lang Lang

CATANI hosted local rival Lang Lang last Saturday and, after going down in two of the three junior games, proved too strong in both the reserve and senior games.
The seniors got a good start, took control of the first quarter and by the first change had a six goalstonil lead. This included two goals by firstgamer and fourths player Russell Lehman.
In the second term the Blues extended their lead with John Entwisle, playing his 100th game for the club, firing up forward. Catani, after scoring seven goals to two, had built up a 68point margin at halftime.
In the second half the Blues slowed significantly and their Lang Lang opponents were able to match them in the third quarter, then outscore them in the last to leave a final deficit of 57 points. Entwisle finished with eight goals.
Scores: Catani 17.10.112 d Lang Lang 8.7.55.
Best: John Entwisle, Aaron Alger, Ben Maroney, Luke McFarlane, Glen Hall, Shane McFarlane.

RESERVES

Catani continued its winning form with a comfortable 31point win over Lang Lang. The Blues’ lineup of height, youth and experience put in four consistent quarters and, with more players to come back into the side, hopes were high for a strong showing all season.
Scores: Catani 11.7.73 d Lang Lang 5.12.42.
Best: Graeme Dyall, Tom Coupe, Tom Grant, Joe Camilleri, Ryan Kitchin.

UNDER 17

Catani played well in windy conditions and was hopeful of a win to celebrate Leigh Jose’s 150th game, but were beaten by a better Lang Lang team. It was a good effort by the Blues and signs were good with everybody starting to work together. Forwards Kaine Wedlock, Jose and Daniel Kitchin worked hard and Kane Matthews and Mark Cardamone worked hard in the back line.
Scores: Lang Lang 12.6.78 d Catani 4.5.29.
Best: Dustin Peebles, Jay Withers, Phil Strahan, Daniel Kerrison, Anderson Edwards.

UNDER 15

Catani fourths went down for the first time for the season against Lang Lang. It was a close, lowscoring match, in which the young were unable at times to match their opponents’ drive and determination. There were great efforts from Tom Hance, Dale Clark and, playing in his 100th game, Ryan LewisFitzgerald.
Scores: Lang Lang 5.4.34 d Catani 2.3.15.
Best: Tom Hance, Dale Clark Ryan LewisFitzgerald, Craig Hart, Michael Ralph, Russell Lehman.

UNDER 13

It was another good win by Catani, which was able to increase its lead every quarter, even when kicking into the wind. It was a hard game but Catani teamed well to record a good win. Jamie Evans kicked three goals.
Scores: Catani 11.12.78 d Lang Lang 1.1.7.
Best: Taylor Stafford, Lachlan Grant, Tom Williams, Tyson Thomas, Michael Dicarlo, Kryton Knaap.
