MERINDA Park’s Agrade team ended the homeandaway season in style on Saturday with a 116run win against Emerald.
Cobra offspinner Shannon Mathers bowled a long spell to finish with 4/60 from 20.5 overs.
Under15 player, Anthony Burr also performed well with the ball to have 3/33 from 12 overs of which half were maidens.
Scott Kunziak picked up the first wicket of the day and was also involved in a runout later in the innings.
Jess Mathers was the other wicket taker from the previous week.
John Atwell had an excellent day behind the stumps to take five catches and be involved in the runout.
B GRADE
Playing local rivals Cranbourne Meadows, the Cobras finished the season well with a good win.
Chasing 190, the Cobras passed Cranbourne Meadows with four wickets in hand to end play at 7/213.
Andrew Syddall continued his great form this season with 48.
Jason Edwards played an excellent innings under pressure with his team having only four wickets in hand and still needing 79 to win and scored 51 in a matchwinning effort.
Opener Rod Morrison also did well to score 30 and Cobra life member Grant Bloomer scored 34 notout and helped the team’s win including a 88run seventh wicket partnership with Edwards.
D GRADE
The Cobras managed to score a 49run win over Tooradin with their fielding letting them down, as several dropped chances didn’t help the cause.
Captain John Proctor led the way with 5/31 from nine overs.
Opening bowler Pat Graham picked up 1/44 from 12 overs with Nathan Beaver bowling a great spell without luck.
Matthew Pongracic also bowled well to take 2/56 from 13 overs.
The Cobras will now play Nar Nar Goon in the semifinal at Donnelly Reserve.
E GRADE
Defending only 220 against Devon Meadows on the fast Lyndhurst Secondary College ground, the visitors had the Cobras doing a lot of leather chasing, scoring 5/320 in only 47 overs.
Wickettakers were captain Paul Humphrey with two and one each to Jace Field and Robert Strang.
The Cobras did well with the bat after Devon Meadows declared, scoring 1/110 from 22 overs.
Ron Hughes retired on 38 with Craig Robertson making 28; Paul Humphrey 16 notout and Daniel McCalman 16 notout.
F GRADE
The Cobras had a crushing victory over Kooweerup at Junction Village.
In the field first, the Cobras bowled Kooweerup out for only 62 with under17 player Marcus Beaver taking 3/5 from four overs.
Another junior player, Stuart Martin, took 3/20 from five overs with captain David Field taking 2/4 from 2.3 overs and Robert Clarke taking 1/30 from six overs.
The early loss of Gerard Healy didn’t stop the Cobras with presidentopener Chad McKie making 18 and numberthree Craig Glassborow blasting 44 notout.
The Cobras made 67 from only 15 overs and take on Emerald in the semifinal.
UNDER 17
The Cobras continued on from the previous week, finally declaring at 4/150 in only 17 overs.
Nathan Beaver scored 50 retired and Andrew Martin 52 retired and James LaughlinGlen made 16 notout.
The match lasted only just over 10 overs with the Cobras getting outright points after bowling Officer out for only 32.
Michael Theodoridis took 3/11 from three overs, James LaughlinGlen with 2/5 from 2.1 overs, with Andrew Martin and Marcus Beaver taking a wicket each.
The Cobras play Lang Lang in the semifinal at Donnelly Reserve.
UNDER 15 WHITE
Defending 203 against Pakenham Upper Brown, the Cobras lost a thriller with the hosts making 6/226.
The wickets were shared with Ryan Little, Corbin Barrenger, Simon Spencer, Jake Feenstra, Daniel Andreadis and Michael Blackburn all taking one each.
Barrenger was the best of the bowlers taking his wicket from four overs with only 10 runs scored.
A good season for the Cobras with both under15 teams finishing midtable.
UNDER 15 RED
The Cobras had a forfeit win over Kooweerup with the visitors unable to field a team in the second week.
UNDER 13
The Cobras had a bye this round and used the time to play a practice match against the under15s.
The Cobras take on Pakenham Gold in the semifinal this week.
UNDER 11
Finishing their season off against KilcundaBass, the Cobras made 82 with the opposition making 77.
In the field the team was good with Ramith Satharasinghe taking two catches including the first wicket in competitive cricket for Laurent Formica and one from the bowling of Dinelka Balasuriya.
Ben Dalton, James Jordan, Matthew Dennerley, Ramith Satharasinghe and Ashleigh Little all picked up wickets. Little took two in the one over.
With the bat, Caleb Boswell hit four fours; Kyle Salter one four, James Jordan two fours, Brady Boswell one four, Ramith Satharasinghe one four and Matthew Dennerley three fours.
Special mention to Shehan Jayaratne and Dylan Clancy who both played for KilcundaBass. Both boys bowled well and did well with the bat. Sheehan hitting two fours.
Most of the Cobras played for the opposition at some stage during the season.
CLUB NOTES
The junior presentation will be on held at Donnelly Reserve on 30 March from 5.30pm.
The senior presentation will be held at The Sands Hotel in Carrum Downs on 21 April from 7.30pm.
