Cougars tumble on turf

CLYDE Agrade’s first game on turf at Cranbourne racetrack ended in a disappointing total of 193 against Emerald on Saturday.
Emerald won the toss and sent Clyde into bat on a good wicket.
Clyde lost a quick wicket and then Ian Knox and Jarrod Leontini batted patiently in a 62run partnership before Knox was dismissed for 21.
The Cougars lost two quick wickets to be struggling at 4/82 when captaincoach Noel O’Brien joined Leontini at the crease and batted until tea with the score 4/113.
After tea Lenotini was dismissed for 75 to continue his good form this season.
Dave Denton joined O’Brien and they worked to get Clyde into a good position to build a good total.
After a good partnership O’Brien was dismissed for 37 with Clyde well placed at 6/181 in the 67th over.
Unfortunately the tail collapsed without much resistance once Denton was dismissed for 31 and Clyde ended with the disappointing total of just 193.
Emerald faced one over and is 0/1.

C GRADE

Clyde headed to Catani, won the toss and batted.
After the loss of an early wicket, Aaron Baleisis and Glen Tuckwell put on a 44run partnership with Baleisis dismissed for 29.
Clyde then consistently lost wickets and when Tuckwell was dismissed for 36, Clyde was in strife at 8/97 in the 42nd over.
Daven Johnston joined Nathan Lillee and together they slowly resurrected the score.
A ninthwicket partnership of 92 got Clyde out of trouble with Lillee dismissed for 48 and Daven Johnston dismissed on the last ball of the day for 52.
Clyde ended the game on 209 a competitive total for this week.

D GRADE

Clyde played at home against Emerald and was sent into the field.
Troy TharleAdams had a sensational day with the ball bowling good pace unchanged throughout the innings. His figures of 6/39 from 18.3 overs highlighted his excellent form and he was well supported by legspinner Tarha Shaikh taking 3/18 from seven overs.
Clyde dismissed the Bombers for 136 in 39 overs and then batted but was unable to handle the bowling of A. Roults in his spell of 4/13 from 14 overs.
At stumps Clyde was 5/37 with captain Matt Sinnema providing some resistance with 11 not out.

F GRADE

Clyde played Devon Meadows and bowled first.
Mick Bishop bowled well taking 2/24 as did Simon Marshall with 2/18. Dave Healy took 2/19 from his two overs as the Panthers got to the total of 169.
Clyde then batted and got away to a good start with the top four batsmen getting good starts.
Duane Derozario (19), Daniel Finn (21), Simon Marshall (27) and Ali Derozario (25) got the score to 7/145, but the last wickets fell quickly with Clyde all out for 162 in the 29th over.

UNDER 15

Clyde travelled to Xavier College playing against Beaconsfield Tigers and restricted its opponents to 131 after the allotted 40 overs.
Dylan Hadfield, Corey Brasher and Adam Ballard all picked up two wickets each and Nick Sadler bowled a tight line, only conceding five runs off his four overs.

UNDER 13

Playing Merinda Park at home, the Cougars toiled hard and bowled out the opposition for 171.
Best of the bowlers were Dean Fogarty (2/11), Jake Dobbin (2/15), Lachy Walden (2/20) and a run out and Finn Mcunnie (1/26).
