Ease off, Pplaters urged

YOUNG drivers are being urged to be aware of changing road conditions following a series of crashes that have injured Pplate drivers.
Cardinia Traffic Management Unit officer in charge Sergeant Peter Garton said in the last week four young drivers had been involved in crashes where inexperience may have been a factor.
“We need to get the message across to young drivers to slow down in wet weather.”
“Young drivers need to take into account the fact they have less experience and adjust their driving to the conditions,” Sgt Garton said.
Three crashes occurred on Tuesday, 20 March.
An 18yearold woman from Gembrook driving a Holden Astra hit the back of a truck while travelling south on Wellington Road in Clematis at 2.30pm.
An 18yearold female passenger received minor injuries in the crash and was taken to Dandenong Hospital.
A 24yearold man from Mount Martha and a 42yearold man from Langwarrin who were in the truck were not injured.
A second crash occurred at 3pm, when a 21yearold Berwick woman lost control of her Holden Commodore while rounding a bend on the BeaconsfieldEmerald Road in Upper Beaconsfield and hit an embankment.
The woman, who was the sole occupant of the car, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Dandenong Hospital.
An 18yearold Cockatoo man rolled his Toyota sedan on the BeaconsfieldEmerald Road near Stoney Creek Road at 3.20pm.
The driver, who was the only person in the car, was taken to The Alfred hospital and released the next day.
Sgt Garton said another crash resulted in a 21yearold woman being taken to Casey Hospital last Friday.
The woman from Ferntree Gully lost control on the gravel on the Main Drain Road in Cora Lynn.
Her Toyota Yaris rolled in the crash.
Sgt Garton said young drivers need slow down in wet conditions and remember they were still gaining experience behind the wheel.
