Fourball to the fore in champs

A TOP round of 57 sees Tasi Taito and Sam Maota leading after the first round of the Pakenham Golf Club fourballbestball championships on Saturday.
Played in near perfect conditions, the championship is played over two rounds with the second to be played next Saturday.
Bgrade winners were Michael Conroy and Broni Jaremczuk with 58.

Nearest the pin on the golf shop second hole was won by Sam Moata and the Pakenham Subway fifth hole was won by Ron Seamer.
Trevor McQualter was the winner of the Dante’s Woodfired Pizza eighth hole and the Hungry Jack’s 14th went to his playing partner in Rob Nobelius.
John Goodchild was the winner of the Pakenham Pizza 16th hole and Basil Bate won a ball for the nearestthepin second shot on the B.M.R. Autos sixth hole.
The longest drives were won by Tasi Taito (B.M.R. Autos Agrade), Ian Neason (Bgrade) and Trevor Chivers (McIntyre Painting Cgrade).
Saturday week is the December Monthly Medal sponsored by K & S Waste, Dingley.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:CHALLENGE GOLF

The PakenhamBerwick MontunaHeyfield Challenge was played last Sunday at Heyfield.
Everyone had a very enjoyable day and the Pakenham crew was especially cheerful as they won the challenge.

This was a stroke round with Angie Peluso coming in with 64 to win from Tom McDermott with 65.
The downtheline balls went to Bob Edwards 66, Heath Barclay 66, Owen Bumpstead 67, Tym Davey 67, Vili Koroknai 69, Ron Horne 69 and Cliff Pain 69
Nearest the pin on the second hole was won by Alex Green and Cliff Pain took out the eighth. Tony Wynen was the winner on the 14th hole.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:WEDNESDAY RESULTS

In a contrast to last week’s weather the morning was excellent and 65 players teed off in a Stableford round with the CCR being 69.
Brian Doherty came out the winner on a countback from Bert Burniston and Kevin Salau, all coming in with a great score of 40 points.
Down the lines went to Denby Coggan, Rod Cameron, Peter Egbers and Max Cole 39, Don Dalgleish 38, Mal McKenna and Peter Eaton 37 followed by Alex Green, Malcolm Clay, Heath Barclay and Keith Rice on 36.
Tony Wynen was the winner of the nearest the pin on the second hole and Mal McKenna took out the fifth hole.
The eighth hole was won by Ron Horne and the 14th went to Rodney Clarke. Stan Gilbert took out the 16th hole.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:TWILIGHT RESULTS

This competition is proving very popular. Hitoff times are from 3pm on Wednesdays and meals are available after the nine holes.
Members are invited to bring family and friends along for the golf or if they do not play just enjoy the meal.
This competition is open to all – members and nonmembers, handicap and nonhandicap players.
More than 100 players took part in the twilight competition in perfect conditions last Wednesday evening and the social winner was B. Holland.
Front nine
The winner was visitor Michael Trickey with 25 points from Marjorie Dean with 22 on a countback.
Downtheline winners were John Clements 22, Alex Green 21, Kevin Salau 21, Peter Egbers 21, Don Dalgleish 20, Heath Barclay 20, Leo Cester 20, Michael Hildebrand 20, Rick McHugh 20 and Brian Paynter 20. Nearest the pin, second shot on the seventh went to N. Trickey.
Back nine
The winner was Rob Wedlock with 23 points with down the lines going to Clint Walker 22, Tony Sheahan 20 and Jason McQualter 20.
Nearest the pin on the 14th went to Clint Walker.

Jenny Bennett was the winner coming in with 43 Stableford points from Steve Barrett 40 and Neil Mani 39.

An enjoyable day was had by 49 ladies on 23 November.
Beginner’s day was a huge success with 15 ladies attending. Ambrose twos (nine holes) was the game of the day.
Frontnine winners were June McCardel and Sallie Dowdney with 23 3/4 nett.
Backnine winners were Shirley Roberts and Deb Barclay with 27 1/4 nett.
Norah Gasgard and Phillipa Bebee were runnersup on the front nine, coming in with 24 1/2 and the back nine runnersup were Marjorie Dean and Shirley Tharle with 26 1/2.
Nearest the pin second hole winners were Libby De Hey and L. Schreurs and Shirley Roberts and Deb Barclay won both the nearest the pin 14th hole and the second shot on the 16th.
Downtheline balls saw Muriel Mills and Joan Young 26 1/4, Leanne and A. Andrews 27 3/4, Judy Horne and J. Fredrikson 28 1/2, Jan Gibb and Pat Salau 28 1/2 and Lyn Murray and J. Bangalar 29.

Peter Wouters from Pakenham Motor Trimming and Upholstery was thanked for mending the Pakenham Tyrepower tent that was lent to the club for the tournament and slashed by vandals.
